Willans LLP announces year of fundraising for Carers Gloucestershire

Carers Gloucestershire is delighted to announce at the start of Carers Week that Cheltenham-based law firm, Willans LLP has chosen Carers Gloucestershire as a charity partner and will spend a year fundraising for Carers Gloucestershire.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the charity of the year by the staff at Willans and are really excited about the opportunities this partnership presents,” says Carers Gloucestershire chief executive, Tim Poole.

“As well as the fundraising aspect of the partnership, having our name linked with such an established, prestigious local firm can only help raise the profile of carers across the county, the issues they face and support available from Carers Gloucestershire.

“In Gloucestershire alone there are at least 63,000 carers, that’s more than 1 in 10 of the population. I’d like to thank the partners and staff at Willans for getting behind our nomination and giving us the opportunity to benefit from this fantastic partnership.”

Willans has raised around £90,000 over the past six years which has been put toward all sorts of charitable projects throughout Gloucestershire. The team of around 75 staff are busy planning a calendar of fundraising activity ranging from large social events to baking competitions and sporting challenges.

Simon Cook, partner at Willans who heads it’s wills, trusts and probate department, said: “We’re proud to pledge our support during Carers Week which helps raise awareness of the challenges the sheer number of unpaid carers in the county and beyond face. We work with many carers who look after people of all ages and with differing needs.

“We’re very excited about our new charity partnership with Carers Gloucestershire and look forward to sharing more news about our efforts including how you can get involved and support our fundraising endeavours to raise as much as possible for this very deserving charity.”

Daphne Sanderson, a former trustee of Carers Gloucestershire and a client of Willans nominated Carers Gloucestershire as a potential charity of the year.

Daphne says: “I’ve been a carer for 41 years. Over the 25 years I’ve been involved with the charity they have started many initiatives that make a world of difference to support the needs of carers such as counselling services and respite. It’s absolutely what carers need and it’s great to have Willans support”.
