I had experience of being a carer when I looked after my father who had dementia for three years. It taught me a great deal about myself and about both the privilege and the challenges and frustrations of being a carer”.

Tim Poole, Chief Executive of Carers Gloucestershire adds, “Dame Janet has long been a supporter of carers and the work that we do to support them so I am absolutely delighted that she has agreed to take on a more formal role with the charity”.

Since then Chris and Sue have been trying to balance their time between other, smaller business ventures and their desire to ‘put something back’ through support of a charity. In 2012 they were invited to become Patrons of Carers Gloucestershire

Chris and Sue seek to make Gloucestershire businesses more aware of the very difficult balancing act that holding down a job whilst caring for a loved one presents and how Carers Gloucestershire can help both the employee and the company.

Carers Gloucestershire really touched my heart with the work that they do in providing a support network for people who find themselves in a caring role.
