Dame Janet Trotter OBE DBE CVO

Honorary President of Carers Gloucestershire.

Dame Janet, Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire since 2010, was appointed OBE in 1991 and awarded a DBE in 2001. As Lord-Lieutenant, Dame Janet is the Queen’s representative in the county; this includes supporting a range of charities which work with the vulnerable and frail within our community.

Dame Janet comments, “I am truly delighted to be a part of Carers Gloucestershire’s work with unpaid carers and hope I can help to raise awareness of the invaluable contribution carers make. I had experience of being a carer when I looked after my father who had dementia for three years. It taught me a great deal about myself and about both the privilege and the challenges and frustrations of being a carer”.

Tim Poole, Chief Executive of Carers Gloucestershire adds, “Dame Janet has long been a supporter of carers and the work that we do to support them so I am absolutely delighted that she has agreed to take on a more formal role with the charity”.
