Meet Kirsty, our London Marathon runner

Meet Kirsty, our London Marathon runner

For the first time, we have secured a place in the Virgin Money London Marathon and undertook a search via social media to find our first runner.

We had a great response and are delighted to share the news that Kirsty Reid, from Gloucester has been offered our coveted place! Kirsty will be running the world-famous marathon on Sunday 22 April to raise funds for Carers Gloucestershire.

Kirsty, who is a student nurse in Gloucester, has set up her fundraising page and is taking on the London Marathon for the first time, so please support her if you can! You can also support Kirsty by texting GLOS25 and the amount you want to donate to 70070.

“I have been running since I was 12 and I want to run the London Marathon because it’s the most famous road race in the world. It’s a big challenge but a great way to raise awareness of the charity and lots of money too!” says Kirsty

“I think it’s really important to support unpaid carers because anyone could become a carer at any point in their life. The focus is always on the patient and not how this affects the people/person who cares for them.

“The more the carer feels supported, the better the care they will be able to provide. As a student nurse, I have worked with many patients and their families to ensure the family are supported as much as the patient.”

Congratulations again, Kirsty and we look forward to following your progress as you train towards the big day!
