Day trips and excursions

Here at Carers Gloucestershire we’re busy organising monthly days out and events as part of our Time Out for Carers programme. We aim to provide fun days (or evenings!) out, ranging from trips to arboretums, trips to the theatre to shopping trips away. Below are our planned events – please give us a call on 01452 386283 if you want to find out more, or register your interest.

Why not join us?

With all our trips, we are taking expressions of interest in the first instance.  In the event of over-subscription, places will be selected at random. Please note priority will be given to carers who are new to trips or those that have not attended a trip in the last year.

If your place is confirmed, then we will ask for a non-refundable deposit of £5 towards the trip. Bath Thermae Spa will require a further £5.

Please ring 01452 386283 or email mail@carersgloucestershire.org.uk to express your interest.

Wednesday 13 September 2017 – Royal Botanic Kew Gardens

Rescheduled from 21st June – this trip has some spaces remaining. Call now to express your interest!
Carers are invited to come with us to explore the world’s most famous botanic garden, with breath taking landscapes and world-class attractions including iconic glasshouses full of rare and beautiful plants, historic buildings, botanical art galleries and the soaring treetop walkway. A coach has been organised to depart from: Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud. We’ll arrive around 11am and depart at 4pm.

Wednesday 4 October 2017 , 2 – 4pm – Afternoon Tea at Ellenborough Park

Caught between the Cotswolds’ highest point and lush green gallops of Cheltenham’s world-famous racecourse, Ellenborough Park is an indulgent 15th Century country estate, turned 21st century luxury hotel retreat. Steeped in history, this manor house is set in 90 acres of countryside made up of a luxury house and beautiful grounds. Carers are invited to take a break and join us for an afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea for a couple of hours. Carers will need to make their own way to the venue.

Wednesday 18 October – Batsford Aboretum, Nursery and Falconry Centre

Batsford is home to the country’s largest private collection of trees and shrubs. Set over 56 acres, Batsford is an intimate place to visit with botanical interest all year round. This trip gives carers the chance to relax and enjoy fresh air and beautiful surroundings. Visitors can stop for refreshments at the Garden Terrace Café and browse around the plant centre and gift shop. Admission to Cotswold Falconry Centre is also included in the price of this trip. The Centre is home to 150 birds of prey and there are free-flying demonstrations each day.

Wednesday 29 November 2017 – Bath Christmas Market and Thermae Spa

Following the huge success of our visit to Bath in November 2016, we wish to repeat the trip again this year. It is a great opportunity for carers to be pampered for a couple of hours in the naturally heated spring water of the world famous Thermae Spa. Carers can then spend time in the Victorian Christmas Market located nearby, stop for afternoon tea or browse in the city centre shops.
