Why volunteer with us?

There are unpaid carers throughout the county who are lonely, isolated and struggling but who could be receiving support, including counselling, benefits and training.

Why volunteer with us?

Our volunteers are crucial in this work in a variety of ways, through raising the profile of Carers Gloucestershire in doctors surgeries or hospitals, helping with the mailings so carers learning about the support available, raising money at events, providing administration support and much much more!

Our volunteers volunteer with us for lots of different reasons, including:

  • To improve their CVs
  • To give something back to the charity
  • To do something useful
  • To meet others
  • To give them confidence
  • To use my skills
  • To keep the brain ticking over
  • To do something for my community
  • Due to having spare time
  • To make a difference
  • It brings a special joy

What we offer volunteers:

  • Induction
  • Training
  • Socials with other volunteers
  • Catch ups and reviews to discuss how the role is going
  • Certificates and other rewards
  • Ways to stay in touch and up to date with what is happening for volunteers
In my early days of caring when I felt isolated and exhausted I often wondered how long I would cope for, then I found Carers Gloucestershire and my inner strength got stronger by the day.
