Carers Gloucestershire President honoured by The Queen

We are delighted that our President, Dame Janet Trotter has been appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the 2018 New Years Honours List.

Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Dame Janet says she is “absolutely thrilled” after receiving the honour from The Queen.

She has been The Queen’s official representative in the county since 2010 and has been associated with Carers Gloucestershire since 2014.

Dame Janet, who was awarded an OBE in 1991 and a DBE in 2001 for services to education, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to receive this honour. It is a huge privilege to be Lord-Lieutenant and to work both as the representative of the monarch and the county.

“However, I like to think this honour is not just awarded to me but to all those wonderful people I have met during the past few years who also contribute so fully to the quality of life in the county – in receiving this I also honour them.”

Dame Janet has lived in the county for over 30 years and has a background in education. She was the founding Vice Chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire and has previously chaired the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in one of her many public roles.
