Leave a legacy

Leaving a gift in your will helps us to continue to support the people of Gloucestershire who find themselves isolated and struggling to care for their loved one.

Leave a legacy

How your gift will help us

There’s a very high probability that you have had some experience of caring or have a close friend or family member who is an unpaid carer. In Gloucestershire approximately 200,000 people are affected by complex conditions such as MS, stroke; brain injury; motor neurone disease; cerebral palsy; Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Each year, thousands of people give up work and a social life to care for a loved one who could not manage without their help.

Without the proper support this caring role can break down with devastating consequences.

We cannot support Carers in isolation and if you want to make a real lasting difference to the people of Gloucestershire, a gift in your will no matter how large or small will ensure local people continue to get the help they need.

What type of gift you can give

The most common gifts you can make in your will are:

Residuary gift – the remainder or a percentage of your estate after all other bequests and expenses have been deducted. A residuary legacy has the added benefit of keeping pace with inflation.

Pecuniary gift – a gift of a specified amount of money, for example £5,000. However, unlike a residuary bequest, inflation can reduce the value of a pecuniary gift.

Specific gift – a gift of a specific item such as a property, jewellery or other valuables.

We’re always happy to have an informal and confidential chat about the best way your legacy can be used to help support local unpaid Carers.
