Parent Carer Network

Carers Gloucestershire provides Parent Carer Support through their Parent Carer Participation Worker and Carer Advisers who can help Parent Carers with children and young people up to the age of 25.

Parent carer network

Carers Gloucestershire hosts the Parent Carer Participation Network which represents the views of Parent Carers across the county, enabling parents to be resilient and positive through being empowered and involved. There are also many opportunities for training and volunteering so parents can use and develop skills, gain experience and expertise.

The network has over 1100 members who sit on 45 working parties and steering committees to improve the design and delivery of services so they meet families’ needs.  Parents can get involved in as much or as little as they like and this year won an award for being the best in their area of work. Parents are kept informed, feel empowered and benefit by coming together as a united front.

Parent Carers in Gloucestershire have had a huge impact on the development of services and promotion of good practice across the county. The benefits of involving parents are acknowledged by all. So if you are not a member and you are a parent who gives regular unpaid help to your child who has a disability or additional needs join up now so your voice is heard

Membership is free and you will receive a welcome pack, information about services, discounts, news of upcoming events, plus have the opportunity to shape future services. We look forward to welcoming you to our award winning team.

What the Parents say

”I appreciate the Parent Carer Council enormously, the changes that have been made have been staggering, the home to school transport claims available online, the home to school transport reorganising…”

And from a practitioner: “It has been great working the parents – it is one of the most enjoyable parts of my job as the feedback in invaluable.  I’m confident that SEN Transport is in safe hands.”
